WHAT WE’RE ALL ABOUT
Who We Are
The Edinburgh Cycle Company was established in 2016 as an offshoot of the Electric Cycle Company with one mission: to be a great local bike shop that customers could trust to carry out honest repairs to their bike whatever it was. Our can do is what inspired us to open up our shop, and continues to drive us to this day. All our repairs are completed with meticulous detail, resulting in a product that is as good as new.
Perhaps you use your bike every day and you just want it to be safe and comfortable to ride. Or you are planning that expedition across Asia and need a comprehensive service.
With 15 years of experience we can supply exactly what you need. Our services cover everything from frame repairs to wheel building to hub gears and electric bikes. And yes we can fix your puncture.
Our service is fast - usually the same day - and we can give you a fixed price or an estimate in advance. We have a huge range of skills and work on any sort of bike, including the ones other bike shops don't want to touch!
LEVEL 1 SERVICE £40
Just the basics!
Recommended for the occasionally used bike, or more regularly if your bike is used every day. Level 1 Service offers you the peace of mind that comes from knowing that your major bike mechanicals – the brakes and gears – are working properly.
Check and adjust brakes and gears.
Check and inflate tyres.
LEVEL 2 SERVICE £60
The nuts and bolts...
The Level 2 Service covers every externally adjustable moving part of the bike, so it is much more thorough than our Level 1 Service. Plus the bike is test ridden, so we can confidently back up our Standard Service with a 6-month guarantee that covers the work carried out on your bike.
Frame and Forks checked for damage
Headset and steering bolts checked and adjusted
Bottom bracket and crankset checked and externally adjusted
Hubs checked and externally adjusted
Wheel true checked (not including truing – from £15 extra)
Brakes checked and adjusted
Gears checked and adjusted
Drive greased if necessary
Tyres – checked for wear, pumped to correct pressure
Safety check of all fittings
LEVEL 3 SERVICE £120
The VIB Treatment
Our Level 3 Service (Very Important Bike) is a complete bicycle overhaul, stripping the bike down to the bare frame and carefully rebuilding it. Every part of the bike is individually cleaned and carefully checked before it is refitted. New brake pads are fitted if required. Serviceable bearings are re-greased and/or replaced as necessary. If your gears and brakes are cable operated, we’ll fit new cables. The cost of the cable set (approx £20) is included in the price of the service. If your bike has hydraulic brakes, we’ll bleed the brakes and replace the fluid – again at no extra charge for the brake oil.

All threads cleaned and chased.

Occasionally we see bikes that are beyond economical repair and you will be informed of this where needed. From time to time the shop floor inspection may not see issues with the bike as they may only become obvious upon the mechanics stripping the bike down. You will always be called to talk about this and any costs this will incur. It is very important we get accurate contact details from you when we book your bike in so we can call you if needed.
Keeping you riding
We also stock a decent range of parts, accessories, and helmets to keep you riding. As well as spare parts and tools should you fancy undertaking your repair work yourself.
We stock Lazer, Park Tool, Finish Line, Kryptonite, Schwalbe, Infini, Light & Motion, Shimano as well as and further parts from our diverse range of suppliers. If we don't have it in stock we can get it for you.
